Subaru To The Rescue!
17 Jun 2010Earlier in the year, a major fundraising drive by Yorkhill Children’s Foundation and supported by the Colin McRae Vision charity resulted in the provision of a specialist Paediatric Intensive Care ambulance for Yorkhill Hospital, worth over £130,000. This is due to be commissioned within the next few months and will allow critically ill children to be transferred to Yorkhill whilst receiving Intensive Care treatment.
To compliment the ambulance, Subaru UK have agreed to provide a bespoke Forester 4WD, fully liveried with medical emergency decals and warning beacon as an Emergency Response car.
The vehicle is perfect for responding to a range of calls outs on occasions when the ambulance is already in use, not fast enough or not required and mirrors the clinical service’s ethos of responsiveness, reliability and safety.
The Colin McRae Vision charity was set up by the McRae family following the tragic accident which claimed the lives of rally legend Colin and his son Johnny. The primary aims of the ‘Vision’ are to support initiatives in the areas of Childrens’ Health and Education.
Jim McRae, Colin’s father, who is a Trustee of the charity said: “The Colin McRae Vision are delighted to continue their support for Yorkhill Childrens Hospital by working with our associates at Subaru UK to facilitate the provision of this paediatric emergency response vehicle.
“We hope that the Forester will add to the flexibility and range of cover available to the Hospital Consultants and thereby improve the level of service they are able to provide to critical cases.”
Paul Tunnicliffe, Managing Director of Subaru UK, said: “We are proud to support Yorkhill and all the outstanding and worthwhile work they do with sick children. “This vehicle will make a significant difference to the life saving work the hospital staff carries out and now they will be able to respond to more calls and help to assist more critically ill children with the specialist treatment they need.”
