Blood, Sweat and Punctures - An Update!
13 Jul 2010
Visitors to our news page may recall the brave team of business men who pledged to cycle the length of Scotland in order to raise funds for the Ward 5A Cardiology Fund here at Yorkhill. David Rolwegan, Blair McKellar, Bob Davidson, Stephen Hall and Stuart Phillips commenced their incredible journey in Berwick upon Tweed and covered 609 miles over 8 days, reaching John O’Groats on 19th June 2010. Their heroic effort was inspired by Stephen’s daughter, Abigail, who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a serious heart defect which required her to have a heart transplant when she was only three years old.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that the team have surpassed the £10,000 fundraising target! A staggering £10,500 has been raised, and Abigail was the guest of honour when this was proudly presented to Ward 5A! We’d like to say a massive thank you to David, Blair, Stephen, Stuart and Bob for so bravely undertaking an incredibly hard slog on our behalf of our hospital! The team would also like to express their own thanks to everyone who has sponsored and supported them.
